The North Carolina Central University (NCCU) was licensed in 1909 and opened to students on July 10, 1910 as a private institution. The main purpose of NCCU is to teach students academically and professionally for becoming leaders. NCCU is an all-round institution, which provides its students with programs at the baccalaureate, masterís and selected professional levels.

North Carolina Central University has a lot of organizations and clubs that students may join to meet other students with whom they have similar interests or to find their niche on campus.
