Ashford University, located in Clinton, Iowa, is committed to providing accessible, affordable, innovative, high-quality learning opportunities and degree programs that meet the diverse requirements of individuals pursuing integrity in their lives, professions, and communities.

Founded as Mount St. Clare College, it underwent a steady period of expansion during the latter half of the 20th century, culminating in its transition to the Franciscan University in 2002. It obtained its present name in 2005, when Bridgepoint Education acquired the institution. The University offers undergraduate programs leading to Associate Degrees in arts and business; Bachelor Degrees in Arts, Science, and Applied Science; and graduate programs leading to Masters Degrees in Business Administration and Organizational Management.  Courses are provided at its Clinton campus and also online via its College of External Studies.

Ashford students have access to study and entertainment lounges and recreation areas, and are housed in residence halls known for their friendly family-type ambiance. The University has a variety of clubs and organizations, including the International Club, the Concert Choir, service organizations, special event planning committees, honor societies, support groups, and recreation clubs.

There is a student-run newspaper, The Clarion, which is published monthly. In addition, the University is also very active in sports, fielding varsity teams in men's baseball, basketball, golf and soccer, and in women's basketball, golf, soccer, softball, and volleyball. As members of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), Ashford's athletic teams are known as "The Saints".

Ashford University is regionally accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. The University's teacher education program offered by the College of Education is accredited by the Iowa Department of Education.

Ashford University provides an affordable, high-quality learning opportunity. The tuition cost at Ashford is one of lowest private program costs available in the Midwest. As for financial aid, it is available for those who qualified. 

Admissions
All prospective Ashford students must meet basic English language proficiency requirements. Students seeking associate or bachelor degrees must have a high school diploma or GED. Those applying to bachelor programs must also be 22 or older. Master’s degree applicants must have a bachelor’s degree from an accredited university and a GPA of 2.0 or higher.
