Solano Community College was established in 1945 as Vallejo Junior College. SCC consists of a main campus and two satellite campuses: one in Vallejo and another in Vacaville. Nowadays the school places a prime focus on meeting the needs of returning and specific learners, with special emphasis on scheduling flexibility that allows its many students to maintain employment while seeking a degree.
Solano Community College offers a wide range of associates degrees and certificate programs. The most popular courses of study include journalism, marketing, management, automotive technology, ethnic studies, fine arts, and water and wastewater technology. AdmissionsSolano Community College has an open admissions policy, allowing practically every student who enrolls a chance to initiate and complete a degree program. Admission policy is open to anyone who is a high school graduate, has the equivalence of a high school diploma, or is at least 18 years old and shows evidence of being able to benefit from instruction.
Admission Requirements are: proof of age, high school diploma or equivalence, assessment of readiness and ability to benefit from college-level instruction, a clearly defined educational goal, and assessment for placement in the proper core curriculum classes.
Financial AidStudents are encouraged to apply for the array of federal and state Financial Aid programs offered at College. After completing the Free Application For Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or Renewal FAFSA, students will automatically be considered for most federal and state programs: the main of which are: Grants, Federal Work-Study, Loans, Federal Pell Grant, Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant, Extended Opportunity Program and Services Grant, Federal Stafford Loan
